Galaxidi, is a historic seaside town of Phocis prefecture. Located on the northern coast of the Corinthian Gulf on the west side of the Gulf of Itea and has been characterized as a traditional settlement since 1978. One of the few cities in Greece that has kept unchanged its traditional style.

Witness of its old glory is now the old houses, the temple of the cathedral and the maritime museum that gives a special atmosphere and contains information about the history and brilliant commercial activity of its inhabitants for more than two centuries. In 1790 it was one of the busiest Greek ports, gateway for Mainland fot its trade with the Peloponnese and worked plant storage and handling products.

During the sailing shipping was notorious for the large fleet, wealth and naval capacity of residents. The famous sailing Galaxidi, with special features shipbuilding, performing transport and trade in all ports of the Mediterranean and Galaxidi owners retained naval operations with a developed economic approach as self-insurance scheme among the maritime, shipbuilding, etc.
